Declawing?
What it is:
Declawing is amputation at the cat's first toe joint. Like amputating
your finger at the first knuckle joint. The recovery after surgery
is extremely painful; beyond imagining. And when the pain finally
passes- if it does completely pass - your cat may suffer from
missing limb syndrome.
Declawing may change forever your pet's temperament and cause
permanent behaviour problems like aggression or fear.
Declawing your cat?
In one simple word: NEVER!
If you feel your cat nails may be a problem for
you then DON'T buy a cat. There are many other ways to train your
cat to exercise on a cat tree instead of your sofa and clipping
your cat's nails once a week will help solve the problem.
Your cat is not a property to be used and cruelly modified as you
please.Respect for the unique qualities of a cat and its well being
is essential or you should simply not buy one.
If you don't think that nails are something you will get used to
and you are bothered at the idea of clipping them once a week then
a cat may not be right for you.
Here are two very good websites that will show you what declawing
is all about, and I hope will also help you understand how cruel
this practice is:
