What do I need for my new cat or kitten?

If you are waiting for your first kitten to join you, you are ready to visit the local pet store to buy everything your new pet will need! If you are going to wellcome your new cat or kitten you will need to buy a few things and the most important thing you will need to find is a good vet to bring the kitten to in case of health problems!
What to buy:
- Even if your devon will probably choose your own bed or sofa as his/her favourite place to take a nap it's always better to provide your cat with a pretty and soft cat bed, better if positioned close to a heater.
- A litter box is quite important for your cat ;-) You can buy an open or closed one. The closed one will prevent the litter being tossed out when your cat scratches in it.
- The food bowls. It is best to buy stainless steel or ceramic bowls as plastic quickly acquires scratches where bacteria builds up. This bacteria can cause infections to occur on your cat's chin known as chin acne.
- Food! When purchasing a kitten it's important that you question the breeder about the kitten diet. The breeder will suggest the best diet for your pet and a good quality dry and wet food to buy.
- A cat tree. A cat tree is quite important, it will be loved by your pet and will save your sofa and furniture !
- Cat toys. For a devon this is a must have feauture for a new home ;-) The breeder will for sure tell you what are the favourite toys of your new kitten or adult devon.
- A carrier. When picking up your kitten at the breeder home you will need to go there wilth a carrier. It is the safer way to carry your pet. You will need it also in the future to carry your pet to the vet.
- A nail tripper. This will prevent your kitten nails from scraching your skin or sofa/furniture when running like crazy here and there, with no real control of where it is going to crash !
